A basic translation session is divided into twno phases:
Translation:
Open the document to be translated and click on the Next
The original language segment appears on blue background. The segment are delimited by purple brans such as. You should not delete or edit. The lower segment (green, yellow or gray) corresponds to the target language. If wordfast find a exact or approximate translation, the simple on a green or yellow background. Otherwise, the lower box appears empty or gray. Write the translation in the target language segment, i.e., only at the lower segment (green, yellow or gray).
Click on the icon Next or press Alt-down arrow to valídate the translation and got to the next segment.
Reminder: Never press the key intro (or tab) to validate the translation. The source language and target language segment should never contain carriage returns, tabs or page breaks.
Translate the document, clicking on the Next to validate the segments. For completing the translation, click on the icon End (Alt-Fin) (if you valed the last segment of a document, Wordfast will end translation session automatically.
When you have finished translating the entire document, you can review by a technical correction (proofreading), a spell check and a post-editing. See the first note of the following paragraph. To edit a segment, press the keys Alt-down Arrow, edit it and close it whit the keys Alt-Fin.
Scanning code: Once correction made, click on the icon wordfast, click on the Tools tab, select the translated document in the list of files and click on “Clean-up”. (If you work for a translation company, you may be asked to omit this stage and send the segmented document without the scanning code. Anwer “yes” to question “Update memory” only if you have corrected or edited the document without open/close segments.
